Case 1: The Murder of Susie Salmon
In the small town of Norristown, Pennsylvania, on December 6, 1973, 14-year-old Susie Salmon was brutally murdered by her neighbor, 18-year-old George Harvey. Susie was walking home from school when Harvey offered her a ride. She accepted, and he drove her to a secluded area where he raped and strangled her. He then dumped her body in a cornfield.
Susie's murder sent shockwaves through the community. She was a popular and well-liked girl, and her death was a senseless tragedy. Harvey was eventually arrested and convicted of her murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Case 2: The Columbine Massacre
On April 20, 1999, two students at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, went on a shooting rampage that killed 13 people and injured 24 others. The shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, were both 18 years old. They had planned their attack for months, and they carried it out with precision. They entered the school and began shooting students and teachers indiscriminately. They then retreated to the school library, where they took their own lives.
The Columbine Massacre was one of the deadliest school shootings in American history. It shocked the nation and led to a renewed debate about gun control and school safety.
Case 3: The Slender Man Stabbing
In May 2014, two 12-year-old girls in Waukesha, Wisconsin, stabbed their 12-year-old friend 19 times in the woods. They claimed that they did it to appease Slender Man, a fictional character from an online horror story.
The girls were found guilty of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. They were sentenced to 25 years in a mental health facility.
