The Early Years

Abdul-Baha was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1844. He was the eldest son of Baha'u'llah, who was then known as Mirza Husayn Ali. Abdul-Baha's early years were marked by both joy and sorrow. He was a bright and inquisitive child, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. However, he also witnessed the persecution of his father and the Baha'i community by the Persian government.

In 1863, Baha'u'llah was exiled to Baghdad, Iraq. Abdul-Baha accompanied his father into exile, and he remained by his side for the rest of his life. During this time, Abdul-Baha played a vital role in supporting his father's work and in spreading the Baha'i teachings.

In 1892, Baha'u'llah passed away, and Abdul-Baha became the leader of the Baha'i Faith. He continued to spread his father's teachings, and he traveled extensively to meet with Baha'is and to share the Baha'i message with people of all backgrounds.

The Visit to America

In 1912, Abdul-Baha undertook a journey to America. He arrived in New York City on April 11, 1912, and he spent the next eight months traveling across the country, giving talks and meeting with people from all walks of life.

Abdul-Baha's message of peace, unity, and justice resonated with the American people. He spoke to large audiences in major cities and small towns, and he met with presidents, politicians, religious leaders, and ordinary citizens. He spoke about the importance of education, the equality of women and men, the need for international cooperation, and the spiritual unity of humanity.

Abdul-Baha's visit to America was a watershed moment in the history of the Baha'i Faith. It helped to introduce the Baha'i teachings to a wider audience, and it inspired many Americans to embrace the Baha'i Faith.

The Later Years

After his return from America, Abdul-Baha continued to lead the Baha'i Faith. He traveled extensively, and he wrote many books and articles. He also established a number of institutions to support the Baha'i community, including the Baha'i World Centre in Haifa, Israel.

Abdul-Baha passed away in Haifa in 1921. He was succeeded by his grandson, Shoghi Effendi, who served as the Guardian of the Baha'i Faith from 1921 to 1957.
